Apple Pie

My first memory as a child was me sitting on a shower curtain and getting food all over my body. My mom said, I would only eat if I could use my own fingers. So she devised this device to let me have my way but also make sure that I ate and the house did remain clean after me rolling in food :D My mom says I would smile only when I was feeding myself. I guess, I was meant to be a Chef. I have always been the one to cook, you know because I thought I could do anything :) Especially when mother wasn't looking. I remember early on may be when I was 8 or 9, my parents were not home and me and my sister were hanging out in front of TV. My sweet-tooth started bothering me. I dashed into kitchen and poked in head in different cabinets and didn't find anything I liked. So I poked in the refrigerator and I all that was remotely could satisfy my craving was few apples. And then I had a thought. I has seen mother do this many times. So I went into her room and got the big book she would use when family was over for dinner. I lifted the book and got it in the kitchen. I started going through the pages. What can I do with apples?apples? Voila! I saw a nice black and white picture of the apple pie. Oh yes! That looks easy. So what do I need here? I started rummaging through the kitchen and found flour, salt, butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg etc. I followed the recipe and put together the mixture as the book instructed and found a pie pan (my mom had all the kitchen equipment, more than she needed :)) and then put it in the oven. About 45 minutes later, I could smell a nice crispy, sweet smell coming out of oven. I couldn't wait to see how it turned out. It turned out quite good (if I do say so myself). I baked many a pies after that. But the crispness and taste of my first ever pie still remains lingerings in my taste. Here are some I made over the years. For the "secret" of these pies, stay tuned!
